Delegate information for IWMW 2012

The following informastion was sent in an email message to registered delegates on 11 June 2012.

Venue

The conference will take place on the George Square campus at the University of Edinburgh. All sessions will all take place in Appleton Tower with accommodation and the conference dinner at Pollock Halls. Information on travelling to the venue and a number of maps of the campus can be found on the IWMW 2012 travel page.

Registration

Registration will take place in Appleton Tower (see campus map) from 10.00 am until 17.00 on Monday 18 June.

A registration/information desk will be available throughout the conference.

Parallel Sessions

You should have registered for your parallel session when you filled in your booking form. Information regarding the allocation and location of parallel sessions will be available in the envelope you will be given with your pack. If you have not been issued a choice then please speak to someone at the registration desk. Please contact Natasha Bishop (events@ukoln.ac.uk) if you have any questions.

If you have not yet booked your parallel session then you will be able to choose from the sessions that still have spaces available when you register.

Network Usage

You should have given information on the type of network connection you will require during the workshop when you filled in your booking form. Delegates who are part of the Eduroam system will be able to use their normal login and password. Those that are not part of Eduroam can request a user name and password for the duration of the conference at registration

Please note that there will be no printing facilities available at Appleton Tower so if you have boarding passes etc please ensure these are printed off before you arrive.

Accommodation

Ensuite accommodation for speakers and delegates will be located in Chancellors Court which is situated in the Pollock Halls of Residence. The postal address is Edinburgh First, Pollock Halls, 18 Holyrood Park Road, Edinburgh, EH16 5AY. You may also wish to print the accompanying map (PDF format).

The rooms are basic single student rooms. Towels, bedding, a pillow pack (shampoo and shower gel), are provided. Tea and coffee facilities are available in the kitchens on each floor of the accommodation.

All meals will be provided at the conference up to and including breakfast on 20th June. Please note an evening meal is not provided on the night of 19th June (see below). Breakfast will be in the John McIntyre Dining Room at Pollock Halls.

Check in

Check in is from 2pm at the main reception at Pollock Halls. For late arrivals the reception is open 24hrs.

Check out

Check out is at 10am on the day of departure. Luggage storage will be available at Appleton Tower and Pollock Halls.

Arrivals on Sunday

For those of you who have booked Sunday night accommodation, check in will be the same as above.

There is a bar at Pollock Halls which serves food until 9pm or there are further suggestions for social activities on the Sunday night on the IWMW 2012 Social page.

Social Events

The social events are included in your registration fee. On the first evening (Monday 18th June) there will be a Drinks Reception in The South Hall at Pollock Halls followed by a conference dinner and a Ceilidh. Drinks will be served at 7pm with dinner at 7.30pm.

On the second evening (Tuesday 19th June) there will be a drinks reception at the Our Dynamic Earth. The drinks reception begins at 7pm and afterwards there is free time in which delegates can eat at one of the many restaurants in Edinburgh. The drinks reception will finish at 8pm.

Please note that delegates will have to make their own way back to campus by bus or taxi. Further details on the social events including restaurants and transport information are available from the IWMW 2012 social page.
